Jeff & Mary Kathryn Wolfe’s Story
Jeff and Mary Kathryn Wolfe serve with Converge International’s Deaf Catalyst Team, joining God’s work to see a gospel movement among Deaf people around the world in our generation.
Their passion comes from personal experience. Jeff has been Deaf since the age of five and grew up attending church without meaningful access to the gospel. At age 14, he finally had the opportunity to understand the good news of Jesus through a personal conversation. Mary Kathryn, who is hearing and has used American Sign Language as her first language for more than 30 years, grew up watching her Deaf siblings encounter barriers to the gospel and developed a lifelong passion for Deaf ministry.
Today, Jeff and Mary Kathryn serve with—not simply for—the Deaf community. Their ministry focuses on discipling Deaf people, developing and empowering Deaf leaders, equipping families and churches to engage Deaf people with the gospel, and helping create accessible pathways for Deaf people to know Jesus, grow as disciples, and become disciple-makers themselves.
A significant part of their ministry is investing in the next generation. Jeff and Mary Kathryn co-direct Camp Dove, an overnight Christian camp for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children and their siblings. Since 1998, Camp Dove has created a place where children can experience Christian community, hear the gospel in their heart language, build relationships with Deaf Christian leaders, and discover that they are fully seen and valued by God. Jeff and Mary Kathryn are now working toward expanding the Camp Dove model to other communities and potentially internationally, helping more Deaf children experience gospel-centered discipleship.
Their ministry also includes partnering with churches and organizations, training leaders, mentoring Deaf young people and families, and developing practical resources that help remove communication and cultural barriers to the gospel.
At the heart of everything they do is a simple conviction: Deaf people are created in the image of God, deeply loved by Him, and called to be disciples, leaders, and disciple-makers. Jeff and Mary Kathryn long to see the day when Deaf people are no longer considered an unreached or overlooked community, but are leading gospel movements within their own communities and around the world.
They invite churches, families, and individuals to join them through prayer, partnership, giving, and serving as God continues to open doors for the gospel among Deaf people.
